Since mid-August of last year, children have been coming from the Qunietra region just over the border with Israel on the Golan Heights, where they are being cared for in hospitals in Safed and Nahariya.
The group, called Amaliah, coordinates with the Israeli army and officials in the Syrian territory to allow wounded children to be bused across the border into Israel for treatment. Approximately 2,500 wounded Syrians have received assistance since the Israeli government agreed to allow them in for medical care.
“These children haven’t even seen a hospital in five years. It’s horrible,” says Moti Kahana, an Israeli businessman and leader of Amaliah. “We have organized an attempt to save children’s lives.”
